“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”

-Thomas Merton

I’ve always enjoyed art and creating through all types of mediums. I feel a great sense of enjoyment and fulfilment in my artwork, even if it may just be quick scribbles. I publish my art here for those that wish to share in the feeling and to revel in creativity. Enjoy.

This piece was an accident. I was experimenting with different Photoshop brushes. I did a single click and “sprayed” the page with the black dot of ink. From that I saw an opportunity to mash a previous earth globe idea together with this one. I’ve always been a huge fan of the stencil look and it’s imperfections. It’s the perfect parrallel for the earth. Everything on earth has imperfections, nothing is perfect. And that’s the beauty. I believe there’s character and unqiueness to imperfections. Behind every hole, every dent, every scratch, there’s a story to how it got there.

I added “make your mark” as an after thought. Maybe it’s a thought of passive activism? Maybe it’s me believing we can all make a mark on the world, positive or not. I sincerely hope its the former. We have so much power and that’s what I wanted to explore with this series of MAKE YOUR MARK. Examine how one small change to the picture can alter your perception of it. We can all make small changes, hopefully for the best.
